How long have you been practicing yoga?
I’ve been practicing for a little over a year.
How did you get started?
I got started by watching YouTube videos and when I felt comfortable I started venturing to yoga classes.
What do you enjoy about yoga?
What I love about yoga is there is always something more to learn.
What does the term “yoga” mean to you?
Yoga to me is getting to know my body and learning its relationship with the earth. It’s not just about a pose and a picture…its balancing earth and life and the body.
What advice would like to tell your readers?
My advice to beginners is to not get discouraged if you can’t do a pose. Keep practicing because yoga is so much more than that one pose. It’s not about just bending your body but bending your mind to be more open and accepting to what is going on around you.
What else would you like to tell our readers? Maybe you have some funny/ interesting/inspirational stories about yoga.
My most proud yoga moment from the last year was when I took my mat outside to practice in the fresh air…I looked up and all 4 of my kids had a mat outside with me. Yoga is so healing and therapeutic for beings of all ages and stages! No one is ever too young or too old, too heavy or light, too strong or too weak for yoga. Every journey is different and every journey should be celebrated!
