Why We Love It
Oooh turmeric, where do I begin? You may have had it in delicious Indian dishes. You may have enjoyed it as a trendy mixup to your morning coffee and tried it in a golden latte. I’ve heard about the many health benefits of turmeric but it wasn’t until I did a deep dive into researching it before filming the review that I discovered just how powerful it actually is.
We cover this in-depth in the video, but at a glance, turmeric is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatories in the world, and this is due to its active ingredient, curcumin. Inflammation on a small scale is okay, for example when you work out, the burn you feel the next day is largely due to your muscle fibers flaring up to heal and make you stronger. But chronic inflammation is bad news, and can cause long-term symptoms such as chest and abdominal pain, fatigue, fever and joint pain.
Anti-inflammatories can help prevent all of this, while supporting a strong immune system. Another fun fact: turmeric is high in antioxidants. Yes, that’s a fun health buzzword that’s thrown around, but antioxidants help prevent damage to your cells and even DNA, which has been linked to things like Alzheimer’s, heart disease and even the big bad c-word: cancer.
So why turmeric supplements? Well, if you ingest the spice in food, your only getting a small quantity. Supplements give you a concentrated dose, in this case 1400 mg in two vegan capsules. You’ll also notice VIDA’s turmeric is formulated with Bioperine, and that’s just a fancy name for black pepper. Our bodies have trouble absorbing turmeric, and the black pepper extract simply helps it.
We go over so many of the benefits of the supplement in the video, as well as who it’s best for and what else to expect.
