If you don’t know heartache, you probably know someone who’s gone through it and it isn’t pretty. Sentiments and emotions well up your life leaving you living on too many spectrums.
How Yoga Saved me After my Relationship Ended
Allow me to share a story with you about a personal experience I’ve had with a former relationship.
I had been dating a guy who I thought was it. He had an awesome personality, loving, hilarious, had a great job in the photo industry and loved me to pieces. I thought I hit the jackpot!
A few months later we moved in, started talking about the future… you know normal things couples do. As it turns out, he wasn’t who I thought and things got a little violent to the point where I was scared a few times. Yelling, throwing stuff around. Pretty nasty behavior. I would stay up at nights thinking how I was going to break up with him and move out without making him more angry. I have values that are very strong and disrespect is never one of them.

Then one day the fight got so bad he grabbed my arm really hard and I knew it was it. Immediately I grabbed my stuff and left the house with my dog. I actually ran straight to a yoga class that my best friend taught. I probably had the most intense and powerful practice of my life because I was not going to let fear and anger take over me, but I wanted peace and connection. I cried all of

When I say yoga can save you from a break up I mean it. Let’s look at it from 2 perspectives: Physical & Energetic.
Physically when you practice asana you are moving the body, releasing tension and focusing on breath which is invigorating and fills your body with oxygen. Anger and negative emotions create toxins in the body which by moving and inverting you can help break up and move around so they escape easier.
Energetically yoga will focus your attention inside where love and light live. Where your soul resides which is made of pure light. You draw inside to feel connected to the higher consciousness. Prana and Asana combined will transform and break down painful emotions. I’m not saying that doing a bunch of yoga will make you instantly happy, but it helps truth,
I’m not saying that doing a bunch of yoga will make you instantly happy, but it helps truth, (satya) rise and show you what is happening now is making you a better person. Especially if you were in a toxic relationship like I was. Time and self-love is the recipe to mend a broken heart, but using the science of yoga as a vehicle to move there faster is a great option to have.
To end my story, the next day I was able to move my things out with the help of my community that I met in yoga classes. Yoga is not just about you, it’s about the tribe you create and the culture you are part of. Aligned and centered.
