How To Balance Your Third Eye Chakra

The key to balancing specific chakras is to focus on two things: the area of the body it relates to and the color it represents. The third eye chakra is represented by the color indigo, a rich, deep blue. The third eye chakra is located between the eyes and offers us the ability to not only see the “big picture” and clarity in our decisions, but understand them with an all-trusting, profound wisdom. Restoring balance to this chakra creates an inner guidance, giving you an overall sense of peace that your choices are the right ones.

So, what exactly does that look like? We’ve put together several suggestions to help guide you on your chakra-balancing journey. This includes practicing specific yoga poses to reset your alignment, mantras to bring awareness, crystals to channel high vibrations, scents to stimulate positive energy and even activities to harmonize the third eye chakra energy.

 

Activities that balance your Third Eye Chakra:

 

Yoga

Practicing yoga is a great way to balance your third eye chakra. Focus on poses such as child’s pose, downward facing dog and wide-legged forward fold (pictured left to right). These poses send energy to your forehead or pineal gland – the pea-size gland in your brain behind your eyes that is said to be where the soul and the body connect.

Foods

Your body absorbs the essence of what you put into it, so eating foods that are close to the color frequency of your third-eye chakra are a great way to balance from the inside out. Look for foods that specifically serve the pineal gland, such as coffee and dark chocolate. Also look for foods high in iodine, such as seaweed or kelp in addition to foods blue or purple in colors such as grapes, raisins, eggplant and blackberries.

Meditation

Consider meditation for the third eye a mental trust-fall. You want to build a foundation of all-knowing that strengthens your intuition. Find a quiet space, close your eyes and bring your palms together, raising them so your thumbs press against the spot between your eyes. Repeat the following mantra: “I trust myself. I trust my inner guidance. I trust that each decision I make is the right one.”

Wear Indigo or Bright Blue Clothing

Wear loose clothing that’s indigo or bright blue in color. You could also wear a headband, flower crown or hat of those same colors.

Lapis Lazuli, Fluorite and Tiger’s Eye Crystals

Keep crystals such as lapis lazuli, fluorite or tiger’s eye in your pocket, purse or on your nightstand. You can also meditate with these crystals or enjoy them in crystal-infused water!
