The key to balancing specific chakras is to focus on two things: the area of the body it relates to and the color it represents. The sacral chakra is represented by the color orange. In Sanskrit, it’s known as Svadhistana and is located in the lower abdomen, a few inches below your belly button. It’s the source of your pleasure, sensory experiences, creativity and emotions. Restoring balance to this chakra also regulates your reproductive organs, all five of your senses and emotions.
So, what exactly does that look like? We’ve put together several suggestions to help guide you on your chakra-balancing journey. This includes practicing specific yoga poses to reset your alignment, mantras to bring awareness, crystals to channel high vibrations, foods to heal from within, scents to stimulate positive energy and even activities to harmonize your sacral chakra energy.
Activities that balance your Sacral Chakra:
Practicing yoga is a great way to balance your sacral chakra. Focus on poses that target your lower abdomen and ignite energy in your midsection such as pigeon pose, twisted triangle and dancer pose (pictured left to right).
Your body absorbs the essence of what you put into it, so eating foods that are close to the color frequency of your sacral chakra (orange) such as oranges, carrots, sweet potatoes and pumpkins. Enjoy foods that are also rich in healthy fats such as salmon, coconuts, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and nuts.
Meditation is a quiet, thoughtful activity that reconnects you to your senses. Find a quiet space, close your eyes and find a comfortable seated position. Choose from the following mantras to repeat aloud: “I love every layer of myself and appreciate my vibrant, creative energy.” “I accept and invite pleasure and sensuality.” “I matter.”

Wear Orange Clothing
Wear clothing that’s orange in color, fitted in whichever style that makes you feel most confident.
Use Gemstones like Carnelian, Gold Topaz and Fire Opal
Keep crystals such Carnelian, Gold Topaz and Fire Opal in your pocket, purse on your nightstand or wear them as crystal jewelry. You can also meditate with these crystals or enjoy them in crystal-infused water!
Use aromatherapy to incorporate your other senses, such as candles, soaps and even essential oils infused with Sweet Orange, Sandalwood, and Ylang Ylang.
