What this Upcoming Full Corn Moon Means for Your Energy and Relationships

The Full Corn Moon reaches its peak on September 24th, 2018

It’s called the Full Corn Moon because traditionally, it’s when farmers would harvest their corn. Being an organic vegetable farmer, this always resonates with me because I need to be in tune with the seasons. I believe this is very important for everyone. From managing our sleep patterns to what we eat, can all be directly related to this time of year that helps us reach better health physically and emotionally.

Full moons help us to release. The Full Corn Moon is in Aries and the sun is in Libra. These two astrological signs will each fight for the spotlight because Aries has to do with the individual while Libra is about relationships. However, you can find harmony by not only focusing on your relationships but also your place within them. It’s important to find a balance between giving and receiving that inherently comes with being in a relationship while also maintaining who you are as an individual.

A good practice would be to write down everything you’d want in your ideal relationship – how do you want to feel? What kinds of things would you enjoy together? What will different aspects of the relationship be like?

If you have a partner, it might be good to do the above exercise while really focusing on how you want to feel within your relationship. Next, write a list of at least ten things you are grateful for about your current relationship. Today, try focusing on the things you’re grateful for without letting your mind slip towards what isn’t ideal. Take note of how those practices make you feel or actually create change within your relationship.

The next practice is to really focus on who you are as a person. Set aside some time to journal and ask yourself things like:

  • What qualities do I love about myself?
  • What qualities do I feel are hindering me? If you feel hindered by certain things, are there activities you could do to start making small changes today?
  • What kinds of things do I choose in life?
  • Do I choose to be happy and inspired?
  • How can I be more authentic?

If you lack confidence, try to get to a new class or go to a movie on your own this week. Try anything that pushes you even just a little bit out of your comfort zone. Facing our fears is something we can do often to continue to grow and move forward. Try to do something small every day and you’ll start to find your path more clearly.

Aries is said to correlate with the third (solar plexus) chakra. You can work on this chakra through yoga, meditation, essential oils, crystals, and the foods you eat.

Yoga Poses to Help Balance the Third Chakra:

  • Navasana or boat
  • Revolved triangle and side angle
  • Plank
  • Revolved chair
  • Seated and supine twists
  • Sun salutations
  • Revolved half moon

Other Activities to Balance your Solar Plexus:

  • Spending time in the sun
  • Wearing or looking at the color yellow
  • Building a fire
  • Meditate on the solar plexus chakra
  • Using or wearing yellow crystals during meditation 
  • Using essential oils such as peppermint, cedarwood, and vetiver
  • Eating yellow foods such as apples, lemons, yellow pears, potatoes, tomatoes, and squash

Take Action

Set aside time this weekend or Monday to dedicate to this full moon. Utilizing its Aries energy can help you strengthen who you are as a person and its relationship with the sun in Libra can help you find or re-evaluate your place in your relationships as well.

Weave together the practices above that resonate with you into a 30-60 minute Full Corn Moon Ceremony. This could look like 30 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes of meditating while holding crystals, and journaling for 10 minutes then going outside and building a fire with your loved one or to meditate on your own.
