Summer Detox Smoothies: Part 1

One of the easiest and quickest ways to get more nutrition into your diet is by adding detox smoothies to your day.
Smoothies can offer antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, minerals and also support weight loss, immunity and overall energy levels.

And, after all those summer barbecues and buttery, heavenly treats, there’s no time like the present for a quick detox smoothie!
Try making a big batch of them and freezing the leftovers so you always have a delicious but healthy meal ready to go!

Our regular health/wellness/fitness columnist extraordinaire Fit Kim put together some smoothie recipes that offer a perfect respite from the summer heat and are guilt-free!

 

1. FitKim’s Green Smoothie Remix

2 Servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:
• 1 cup Coconut Water or Milk
• 2 big handfuls of fresh Greens
• 1 Banana or quartered Apple*
• ¼ to ½ Avocado
• 2 cups frozen Fruit (I like mixed berries)
• 1 cup frozen Veggies (Broccoli is my favorite)
• 1 scoop Protein Powder
• 1 scoop of Greens (these are powdered veggies)
• Water as desired
Bonus: Add 1 Tbsp. of a nutritional boost such as Maca, Chia Seeds, Goji, etc.

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-45 seconds.

 

 

2. Triple Berry Blast

2 Servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:
• 1 cup Yogurt
• 2 cups mixed Berries
• A few Ice Cubes
• 1 cup Milk

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-45 seconds.

 

 

3. Breakfast in a Blender

1 Serving
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Bonus Video

Ingredients:
• ¼ cup Milk
• ½ Banana
• ½ cup frozen Berries or other fruit
• ¼ cup Oats
• 1 Tbsp. Almond Butter or Chia Seeds
• 1 scoop Protein Powder
• a few Ice Cubes
• Water as desired

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-45 seconds.

 

 

4. Tropical Breeze Delight

1 Serving
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
• 1 Banana
• 1 cup Coconut Water or Milk
• 1 cup of Mango, Pineapple and Strawberries*
• a few Ice Cubes
• Water as desired

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-45 seconds.

 

 

5. Quick Protein Shake

1 Serving
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

• ½ cup Milk
• ½ Banana
• 1 scoop Protein Powder (chocolate or vanilla)
• A few Ice Cubes
• Water, as needed

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-45 seconds.
